Soak up the summer days with these family fun activities

In need for some ideas to fill those summer days?
From TikTok trends to family recipes and tried and tested classics  - look no further, we've pulled together some of the best ways to keep your smalls entertained...

Backyard orienteering
Draw a map of your home, backyard or local park. Hide an object and mark it on the map then send your kids off to find the item. The more items you've placed the trickier the game. (also a winner to play inside on rainy days inside or at the local park).
Homemade icy poles
Not as intimidating as you may think. Squeeze fresh fruit, blend up frozen fruit or pour fruit juice into an icy poly mould over night for the perfect hot day snack.
No icy pole moulds? No worries - give it a whirl in an ice tray with icy pole sticks placed diagonally within each ice block.
Hopscotch
An all age fav - grab the chalk and create a masterpiece! A game that needs no introduction, but one that can bring as much fun in drawing the hopscotch ladder as it does to play it.
Waterplay
A known remedy for calming and even more so for hours spent outside, water play is the perfect activity to keep your smalls cool and having fun. Nudie rudie under the sprinkler, bath toys in large outdoor containers or kitchen utensils in a makeshift mud kitchen - water play activities are endless.

Fancy Dinner

Kids eating pasta

Whether its for an unbirthday Birthday or an excuse to bring out the good tableware, have your kids set up dinner like a restaurant. From place cards to cutlery set up, napkins and candles, making an every day activity a bit unusual epitomises Summer spontaneity. Who knows, it may even promote the consumption of a brussels sprout.

Outdoor Cinema

Outdoor movie

We're upping the ante here. Grab an old white sheet and hang your sheet to some hooks to form the screen, borrow, buy or hire a projector to create your own backyard cinema. All you need are a few cushions or beanbags for seats, whip up some popcorn and play your kids' favourite movie! Some go-to's for us are Sing (1 and 2 equally brill for kids and adults alike!), Moana, Luca, Ratatouille
